Early voting has started in Florida and the first of two gubernatorial debates between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum happened.

As expected, the debate was contentious, and both men were at each other’s throats.

The latest polls have Gillum up, but now a new internal Republican poll has DeSantis winning.

Outside groups and interests like Tom Steyer and his billions, as well as the Republican Governor’s Association, all have a vested interest in this race.

Both Steyer and the RGA are putting their money were the mouths are. Steyer just injected $2 million to help Gillum, while the RGA continues its mass media effort in support of DeSantis

NextGen America, an organization that Steyer funds, has already invested $5 million to helping Mayor Gillum get elected. On Twitter, the group released news of the additional $2 million being invested with the message that “We’re in it to win it. Andrew Gillum is the future of the Democratic Party and the future of America.”-Floridian

Polls aside, this race will come down to election day.

Here is what the RGA is putting out on Gillum.

Government Takeover of Healthcare: Gillum supports a complete government takeover of healthcare that could require DOUBLING income taxes.

Billion Dollar Tax Hike: Gillum wants a billion dollar tax hike that would make Florida’s tax rate higher than New York and would cripple the state’s economy.

Abolishing ICE: Gillum supports abolishing our nation’s immigration enforcement agency.

Impeaching the President: Gillum has been calling for the President’s impeachment since
