After Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford both testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, it appears that Kavanaugh is going to get confirmed next Tuesday when the Senate convenes for a full vote.
Republican Senator Jeff Flake has just stated that after hearing both individuals testify, he was going to vote in favor of confirming Kavanaugh. Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) tweeted that he would vote against the nomination.
Key moderate Senators, including Flake, held a closed-door meeting after the hearing, leaving many to speculate that Kavanaugh’s performance got him past the finish line.
President Trump posted his utmost support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, acknowledging the judge’s “powerful, honest, and riveting” performance in defense of his reputation.
Trump added that the tactics Senate Democrats employed throughout the nomination process was nothing more than a “search and destroy strategy.”
The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote at 1:30pm Friday.
