President Trump is not too pleased with the recent indictments of Republican Reps. Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter under the watch of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
It goes without saying that Trump is displeased with how Sessions has handled his position, leading many on Capitol Hill to speculate if and when the president would replace the elder statesman from Alabama.
Both Collins and Hunter backed Trump's candidacy early on, and now the president is pointing at that as being a possible reason why they have been targeted.
Trump's recent tweet questioning the two "Obama era investigations" of Collins and Hunter questions by Sessions is raise criticism by many Democrats, media types, and a few moderate-Republicans like Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo.
Curbelo has not openly criticize the president, but has retweeted Fox News' Brit Hume opinion of Trump's original tweet.
Curbelo, whose congressional seat is the contested race in the nation, needs to find a balance with his support for President Trump. Curbelo supports the president, but walks cautiously when it comes to issues like immigration reform.
He has no choice. If he is to win re-election again, Curbelo needs to be the Latino "Maverick" in the U.S. Congress.
