Florida's Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Andrew Gillum, is saying that the 2018 election cycle is tied to the 2010 presidential general election.
To his credit, Gillum is somewhat correct in his assertion that 2018 and 2020 are linked.
If Democrats manage to win Florida's governor's mansion, and Sen. Bill Nelson retains his senate seat, they could very well make Trump's re-election that much more difficult.
Trump needs DeSantis and Rick Scott to win their respective races in order for his 2020 race to have a fighting chance.
Fortunately for Republicans, Democrats like Gillum represent the fridge element of the Democratic Party. Because Gillum is considered so far to the left, Republicans will continue to excoriate the Tallahassee mayor for his close ties to socialist philanthropist George Soros.
