Florida Governor Rick Scott is set to travel overseas to visit Florida troops that are stationed in Kuwait. He is scheduled to make stops at Camp Buehring and Camp Arifjan where troops from the National Guard and Army Reserves are currently stationed.
In a statement, Governor Scott said that “It is an honor to celebrate our country’s Independence Day with the brave men and women who are currently serving and protecting our freedom.”
In addition, the Governor’s office also mentioned that Scott is going to give them “reminds of home.”
Governor Scott also mentioned that “As a Navy veteran, and the son of a World War II veteran, I know how important it is to support our veterans, active duty military and their families, which is why I’ll never stop fighting to make sure Florida is the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation.”
It’s been a good couple of days for the sunshine state Governor as a newly released poll shows that he’s better-liked and better known among Puerto Ricans, which he says he will continue to help as they look to recover after the effects of Hurricane Irma.
In a news release coinciding with the announcement that he’ll be visiting troops on Independence Day, it highlighted the Governor’s advocacy for military spending. The release explained that “Since 2013, Governor Scott has awarded more than 14,000 veterans with the Governor's Veterans Service Medal for their service to the state and the nation.”
