Florida's Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Congressman Ron DeSantis will be debating tonight as they both seek to replace term-limited Florida Governor Rick Scott. This is one of the important races in the midterm election because it's going to test how Floridians are responding to the work that President Donald Trump is doing considering that he won the sunshine state in the 2016 Presidential election.

The hour long debate will take place at the Republican Sunshine Summit currently being held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, and it will be televised at 6:30 pm on Fox News, which is also co-sponsoring the debate. Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum are set to moderate the debate, and the GOP primary is scheduled for August 28th, 2018.

This is the culmination of disputed controversies and important endorsements that have hit the race. President Donald Trump officially endorsed Congressman DeSantis, and Adam Putnam is still leading in the polls as in a recent Fox News poll that shows him with a 32 percent to 17 percent lead.

Although both candidates met at a forum earlier in the year, they answered questions separately pertaining to social issues in their own moderated events. This will be the first time they take the stage at the same time.
