Scott Doubles Down on Term Limits in new ad

Share

Outgoing Florida Governor Rick Scott is now one week into his Senate bid. In full campaign mode, Governor Scott looks to unseat Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, and his first campaign ad titled "Term Limits" sees him doubling down on calling for term limits. This is an issue that many voters have voiced support over and the support became overwhelming during the 2016 Presidential elections when President Trump supported the idea.

In the ad, Governor Scott explains that “In Washington, they say term limits can’t be done. That’s nonsense. We don’t work for them, they work for us.” As a candidate, this continues his “Washington works for us” message that he voiced in his candidacy announcement.

He argues that House members should be limited to six terms and that Senators should be limited to 2 years in office. This is also a jab at Scott's opponent, Senator Nelson, who has been in office since the late 1970s and has had a seat in the senate since 2001.

The race is expected to be one of the most expensive and closely watched races considering that the state's approval of President Trump's administration will be put to test as voters take action.

Senator Nelson has not released an advertisement yet.
