Florida Governor has offered to send state troopers to guard and secure Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School following the suspension of a Broward Sheriff Deputy who was caught napping while on the job.

Let me repeat. A Broward Sheriff Deputy was caught sleeping during his detail of protecting Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

What makes the matter worse is that three students were arrested for bringing weapons to school on the same day the deputy was suspended.

In a letter penned to Broward Sheriff Scott Israel and School Board Superintendent Robert Runcie, Scott express his concern over the ongoing school safety issue.

"Today, my office heard from parents of students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, including parents who lost their children during the February attack…They are still concerned about student safety at the school. Recent events at the school have demonstrated the need for additional security measures to be implemented."

“BSO Deputy Moises Carotti was suspended with pay until an internal affairs investigation and was forced to turn in his badge and marked police vehicle. He is also required to inform the office's internal affairs department of his location twice a day.”-TB Times

As you can imagine, the disbelief that a Sheriff’s deputy would be caught counting sheep while on duty at the same school 17 people were killed just about a month ago, has left some lawmakers all-but speechless.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio stated,” “Of all the schools in America, you would think this would be the safest one right now. This is so outrageous it’s almost impossible to believe.”
