As the nation mourns over another senseless school shooting that left 17 people dead, Republicans and Democratic elected officials extend their condolences and prayers to the families of the victims in Parkland, Florida.

The Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting is the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history behind the Sandy Hook Elementary.

"Sandy Hook, Pulse nightclub, Ft. Lauderdale airport, Las Vegas and now Parkland, Florida - when is this going to stop? It’s not going to stop until the American people say: enough is enough! What is it going to take for enough to be enough?"-Sen. Bill Nelson (D)

"In days ahead will become increasingly evident that killer in todays gave plenty of indications of what was to come."-Sen. Marco Rubio (R)

"I stand with my community and our families and ask all Americans to keep the victims and their loved ones in their prayers this evening. No American should have to feel the pain that Broward County is feeling tonight. We cannot allow this epidemic of gun violence to continue."-Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D)

“Thinking of the victims and all those affected by the shooting in Parkland today. We must do better to keep our schools and communities safe from gun violence.”-Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R)

"A word of thanks and deep appreciation to the teachers and staff who tried so desperately to protect their kids today. You are heroes."-Rep. Ted Deutch (D)

"Please join me in praying for this community & supporting our local law enforcement that runs toward the sound of gunshots instead of away. They need our support now in Parkland & our law enforcement officers across country need our support always to help prevent these tragedies."-Rep. Brian Mast (R)
