Trump's "shithole countries" remark called racist, angers congressional leaders

Share

A bipartisan wave of disapproval and disappointment towards President Trump has crashed down on the White House after the president referred to certain third world nations as “shithole countries.” Trump made the remark during an Oval Office meeting with congressional leaders to discuss temporary protection status (TPS) countries.

While the president’s comment did not sound as presidential as Republicans would like, to say that the remark was racist seems a bit of a stretch, but that is exactly what one member of the Congressional Black Caucus said.

CBC Chairman Rep. Richmond tweeted that the president’s 'shithole' comment was “further proof that his Make America Great Again agenda is really a Make America White Again agenda."

Democrats like Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) then piled on, saying that Trump was “a bad person” while others press him to apologize for making the remark.

Joining Rep.Wasserman Schultz in condemning the President Trump’s “shithole” remark were several members of Florida’s congressional caucus, including Senator Marco Rubio (R) and Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R), Ted Deutch (D), and Carlos Curbelo (R).

  • The comment was made in front of a small group, and while perhaps not the best choice of words, the message is right on. I notice that no chance is lost to bring up racism. What a sorry lot the dumbocrats and RINOs are. Too bad we waste our tax dollars paying them to do nothing but be obstructionists. I notice Switzerland is enacting a new law that says no one but a citizen of Switzerland can collect welfare. Migrants that have been on the dole and not citizens will have to pay back before they can become citizens. They must make an attempt to speak the native tongue before they apply. Great idea, they are saving their tax dollars for their own people, not for the sponges that are squatting on the land with no intent to assimilate.
