Rep. Alex Rizo (R-Hialeah) shared he has received an endorsement from Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier  in his bid for Florida's open District 39 seat.

"Attorney General @JamesUthmeierFL has been a steadfast champion for law and order, conservative principles and the freedoms that make Florida great," Rizo wrote on social media. "I am honored to have his endorsement and grateful for his leadership in defending our Constitution, holding the Castro regime accountable, protecting our communities and standing up for Florida families. I look forward to continuing that fight alongside him in the Florida Senate."

Uthmeier has been Attorney General since being appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in February 2025. He previously served as DeSantis's chief of staff before assuming office.

The attorney general's support follows an endorsement from U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) this week. Rizo has also been endorsed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia, the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police, the Florida Professional Firefighters, and Sweetwater Mayor Jose "Pepe" Diaz.

SD 39 includes Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Miami Lakes, Doral, Medley, Virginia Gardens, and Sweetwater in Miami-Dade County. The district became open after Bryan Avila resigned following his pick as lieutenant governor by Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL).

Rep. Rizo has served in the Florida House of Representatives since 2020. He currently represents District 112 but will forgo the next two years of his term to run in SD 39.

He is running against Rep. David Borrero (R-Hialeah), who announced his run in August. The district is Republican, meaning Rizo or Borrero have a good chance of winning the seat once a special election is called.

There is no Democrat currently running for the position.
