Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) stated on the Senate floor a little fun-filled fact that most Americans did not know about St. Patrick's Day. According to Nelson, the St. Patrick's Day parade was first held in St. Augustine, Florida, and not in New York City or Boston.

The first #StPatricksDay was not in Boston in 1737, nor was the first St. Patrick's Day parade in New York in 1762.
