Governor Ron DeSantis visited Naples yesterday to unveil a statue of Christopher Columbus donated by the State of Florida to the Knights of Columbus Council #4357 in commemoration of the significant Florida-related events that were instrumental to America's founding, in continuation of the America250 celebrations.

Reflecting back on the New World voyages of Columbus and Ponce de Leon, DeSantis noted that "the state of Florida, even though we weren't one of the original 13 colonies, we are the oldest European settlement in the United States of America."
