With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Cabinet having voted to designate the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Antifa, and the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations, joining the Trump administration in doing so, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and congressional candidates for office in two of the most contentious races in the country have opined on the decision.

CAIR has already filed litigation to counter the newly signed law.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D), who is running for reelection to represent Florida's 25th District, told The Floridian that he stood by his past statement on the matter, and pointed to a past "X" post where he urged President Donald Trump to investigate the Muslim Brotherhood.

"I’m urging the President to conduct a comprehensive investigation to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Its history of promoting extremist ideologies and terrorist activities through affiliates like Hamas threatens our national & global security," stated Rep. Moskowitz.

Moskowitz's opponent, Republican congressional nominee Scott Singer, didn't directly mention CAIR or the Muslim Brotherhood by name, just simply targeted the "radical terrorist ideologies and terror-linked organizations."

“Florida is once again leading the nation in confronting radical terrorist ideologies and terror-linked organizations. In Congress, I will prioritize stopping networks of hate spreading antisemitism and anti-Americanism," stated Scott Singer in a text to The Floridian.

In the other "toss-up" congressional race between Marine Veteran and businessman Casey Askar and former high school teacher Pia Dandiya, Askar echoed Moskowitz and Singer, and took a hard position against Sharia Law, which much of the Muslim world appears to somewhat adhere to.

"The Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, and Antifa have been formally designated as terrorist organizations in Florida," stated Askar. "When elected and sworn into office, I will file legislation to help prevent Sharia Law- indoctrinating scholars and imams from spewing anti-American, pro-Sharia rhetoric at taxpayer-funded colleges and universities. There is no room for Sharia in the U.S. There is no room for Islamic indoctrination of Americans."

In a prior report, it was outlined that the Muslim Brotherhood had a significant footprint on colleges and universities across the country, including an increasing number of Florida institutions.

Dandiya, who opposes the Gaza Peace Deal ("Board of Peace for Gaza"), could not be reached for comment, and her campaign did not offer a statement in favor of or in opposition to the vote.

Moskowitz appears to oppose it but Askar and Singer support the Gaza Peace Deal ("Board of Peace for Gaza").

The balance of power is at stake in the U.S. Congress, with Republicans fighting an uphill battle to retain control of both chambers of Congress.
