President Donald Trump has just announced that he will be "temporarily closing" the U.S. border with Canada and signaled yesterday that the southern border could be next. Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he has in discussions with Canada and Mexico about shutting down the borders. The closing of the border with Canada was "mutual."
The New York Times has reported that a Trump administration move to shut down the borders due to the coronavirus outbreak would be applied to immigrants seeking asylum and to those migrants looking to enter the country illegally.
“Ports of entry would remain open to American citizens, green card holders and some foreigners with proper documentation as well as commercial traffic, according to the report,” reported The Hill
We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!
