Rep. Aaron Bean (FL-4) is among 15 members of Congress recognized by Seniors Matter for America (SMFA) with the organization's inaugural Champion for America's Seniors Award.
SMFA, a pro-Trump seniors group led by former WH press secretary Sean Spicer, announced the award this week, citing Bean's commitment to “protecting promised Social Security and Medicare retirement benefits, strengthening popular senior programs like Medicare Advantage, rejecting policies that support total government control of healthcare, such as the Democrat Medicare for All scheme that would threaten seniors’ care and result in a massive tax increase,” and others.
Bean is one of nine House members and five senators named to the inaugural class. The full list includes members from across the country, with Bean representing Florida's 4th Congressional District on the House side.
SMFA Senior Advisor Sean Spicer said the award is intended to help seniors identify their allies in Congress. "The Champion for America's Seniors Award lets our seniors know that they can count on SMFA to watch, keep score, and honor those who fight for them," Spicer said.
The organization, which launched in January ahead of the midterms, has been running advertising campaigns and releasing polling focused on senior benefits and healthcare issues. A FabrizioWard poll conducted in September, highlighted by SMFA, found that battleground district voters would broadly support Republicans who oppose government-controlled healthcare.
