The University of Florida (UF) shared it has been ranked the 8th-best public university in the United States on the 2027 U.S. News and World Report "Best Colleges" rankings through a press release this week.
UF was the only Florida school in the Top 10. This is also the 10th straight year UF, located in Gainesville, has been ranked in the Top 10 by U.S. News and World.
“For 10 consecutive years, the University of Florida has been recognized among the nation’s top public universities," UF Board of Trustees Chair Mori Hosseini said. “There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind now that this is where UF belongs, and even greater things are coming. That kind of consistency is the result of the hard work of our faculty, staff and students, the support of our Legislature and our governor and a shared commitment to making UF better every year. We are proud of how far this university has come, and we are not slowing down.”
U.S. News and World Report assesses universities based on various factors including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity and financial resources.
“This 10-year milestone is a reflection of the sustained excellence happening across the University of Florida, from the classroom and laboratory to the communities and industries we serve," UF President Stuart Bell. "We are building a university that is not only among the nation’s best, but one that is increasingly defining what a great public university can accomplish.”
UF was also ranked the 34th best public or private university overall.
