The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) announced fourteen candidates as part of its 2026 Take Back Florida Distinction program targeting competitive red-to-blue flip opportunities in the state through a press release this week.
The candidates include the following:
- August Mangeney (House District 93)
- Bale Dalton (Congressional District 7)
- Eric Gray (House District 35)
- Gloria Romero Roses (House District 113)
- Jane Aman (House District 37)
- John Lowndes (Senate District 10)
- Leela Gray (Congressional District 13)
- Lucia Baez-Geller (House District 106)
- Luis Salazar (House District 64)
- Michael Ferguson (House District 100)
- Nik Dean (House District 38)
- Pia Dandiya (Congressional District 22)
- Richard Lamondin (Senate District 36)
- Todd Delmay (House District 101)
“This is our strongest bench of flip opportunities yet,” FDP Chairwoman Nikki Fried said. “These candidates are knocking doors, making calls, and talking directly with voters about the issues that matter most to their lives. They’re proof that no seat is out of reach when you show up and do the work, and this November, we’re going to flip these seats blue.”
According to the release, candidates through the Take Back Florida Distinction program will receive grassroots organizing and fundraising support as the FDP looks to flip competitive seats from red to blue in November.
Republicans currently hold 26 out of 40 seats in the Florida Senate and 83 out of 120 seats in the Florida House. Democrats hold 12 seats in the Senate and 34 seats in the House.
There is one independent (Sen. Jason Pizzo (I-Hollywood) in the Senate and one vacancy after Bryan Avila resigned in District 39 following his pick as lieutenant governor by Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL). There are currently four vacancies in the House (District 55/District 78/District 113/District 116).
Moreover, Republicans hold 20 out of 28 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats hold seven seats in Congress with one vacancy after the resignation of Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick in District 20 in April.
The general election is Nov. 3.
