Florida Realtors are going all-in on Amendment 3.
Through a release, the state's largest professional trade association announced the launch of its Vote Yes on 3 campaign, which proposes major changes to property taxes beginning next year if passed by Florida voters on the Nov. 3 ballot.
According to the release, Vote Yes on 3 campaign was initiated as Floridians face "rising costs for housing, insurance, groceries, utilities and other necessities." Florida Realtors added homeowners should keep the homes that they own in their reasoning.
Florida realtors have nearly 240,000 members in its association.
“Affordability is on the forefront for every Floridian, and they need meaningful relief,” Florida Realtors 2026 President Chuck Bonfiglio Jr. said in a statement. “We’ve spent years working to help people buy homes. But buying the home is only half the challenge. We also need to make sure families can afford to keep the homes they worked so hard to purchase.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis also shared a similar thought on social media, writing, "Home ownership should mean you fully own your home, not be forced to pay rent to the government in the form of property taxes" in October 2025.
DeSantis officially began pushing for an amendment slashing property tax in May.
Specifically, Amendment 3 would exempt the first $150,000 of a homestead property's assessed value from the current $50,000 rate starting in 2027 followed by a $250,000 exemption increase in 2028 on most local levies. The amendment would also lower the cap on rental and commercial property from 10% to 5%.
"More predictable property taxes create greater stability for property owners, and for the tenants, businesses and customers who depend on them," the release argues.
The plan does not include school district property taxes.
“Floridians need a change,” Bonfiglio added. “This is an opportunity to provide meaningful relief now, while continuing the broader conversation around property taxes.”
Amendment 3 requires 60% approval from voters to pass.
