The Florida Democratic Party is calling on Senator Ashley Moody (R-Florida) to denounce racist attacks on Representative Angie Nixon (D-Florida) by far-right commentator Laura Loomer.

Loomer posted a clip from her podcast on X Aug. 28, calling out Rep. Nixon, among others, and saying they were all "ghetto black b****es," to which Rep. Nixon responded, "Girl. You ate dog food on camera. In the words of @IAMQUEENLATIFAH, “Who you calling a bitch?”

Loomer then replied, writing, "I called you a ghetto b*****, because you are, Angie, and your record proves it."

Nixon responded, writing, "When referring to me, it’s Representative Angie Nixon. However after November 3rd, YOU CAN CALL ME SENATOR!"

Loomer then spent the rest of the weekend defending and reiterating her comments in several X posts.
On Sunday, she wrote, "Marjorie Traitor Greene says she’s not a Democrat and now wants to accuse me of being racist for calling a ghetto black Senate candidate a ghetto black bitch, because that’s what she is and I’m not afraid to say it."

Monday afternoon, the Florida Democratic Party condemned Loomer's posts as racist, and called on incumbent Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Florida) to denounce them as well.
"Over the weekend, we saw racist attacks against Angie Nixon that have no place in our politics or our party. Let me be clear: Florida Democrats condemn racism and bigotry of any kind, from anyone, period," a press release from the Florida Democratic Party addressed. "Angie is a fighter who's spent her career advocating for working families, for accountability, and for communities that are too often targeted or ignored. What happened to her this weekend is part of a pattern: Black women in public life are disproportionately targeted with this kind of vitriol simply for showing up and doing the work."
"The Florida Democratic Party is calling on Sen. Ashley Moody to denounce the racist attacks against Nixon and make clear that this kind of rhetoric has no place in Florida politics," the press release concluded.
As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sen. Moody had not addressed the comments.
