As Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) gears up to debate against his Republican opponents tonight, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Rep. Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) have endorsed one of his opponents.
On social media, Reps. Luna and Haridopolos released a joint statement, making it clear that they're backing Ryan Elijah in the upcoming race for CD7.
In their statement, the Florida Republicans argue that "Ryan has spent years as a trusted voice in our community, listening to neighbors, amplifying local concerns, and building relationships rooted in service."
"As a husband and father who raised his family right here in the district, he understands the everyday priorities of the people he seeks to represent: safer communities, strong support for law enforcement, lower costs for families, protection of our freedoms, and a government that works for the people rather than itself. Ryan is a true patriot and freedom fighter who will take that same dedication to Washington," Reps. Luna and Haridopolos further argue.
Despite the endorsements for Elijah, Rep. Mills carries President Donald Trump's endorsement, which he has touted in his bid for re-election.
Earlier this year, the president called Mills “an America First Patriot and Tremendous Champion for the Great People of Florida’s 7th Congressional District!” in a Truth Social post.
However, Reps. Luna and Haridopolos, who are both staunch supporters of the president, have broken with the president to make the case that Elijah should represent cd7, affirming that "[Elijah]Â will fight to defend the Constitution, protect the rights of every American, cut wasteful spending, support our veterans and military families, and ensure Central Florida has a strong, principled advocate who puts country and community first."
The Floridian Publisher Javier Manjarres will moderate the cd7 Republican primary debate tonight, which will also include Sarah Ulrich and Michael Don Johnson.
