Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) shared that she has received several law enforcement endorsements, including from Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, in her District 27 re-election bid.
"Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar has been a strong and reliable fighter for law enforcement in South Florida. She understands that keeping our communities safe means making sure the men and women who protect us have the tools, resources, and support they need to do their jobs," Cordero-Stutz wrote in a social media post. "From securing federal funding to strengthen public safety operations and help law enforcement combat crime, Congresswoman Salazar has proven she is committed to safer streets and stronger communities. I'm proud to support her re-election."
Cordero-Stutz, a Republican, has been sheriff of Miami-Dade County since 2025. In doing so, Cordero-Stutz became the first sheriff of the county in nearly 60 years and first female sheriff in the county's history.
In addition, Cordero-Stutz has been a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant, division chief, and assistant director since beginning her career with the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1996.
Along with Sheriff Cordero-Stutz, the endorsements include:
- South Florida PBA
- Florida State FOP District 6
- Hispanic Police Officers Association
- Police Officers Defense Coalition
"The South Florida PBA is committed to endorsing candidates who support the brave men and women of law enforcement and understand the unique challenges these officers face each and every day," South Florida PBA President Steadman Stahl wrote. "You have made law and order a priority throughout your illustrious public service career as well as been dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the residents you represent and our members protect."
Rep. Salazar thanked Sheriff Cordero-Stutz, the South Florida PBA, and the rest of the unions for their endorsements.
"South Florida’s law enforcement officers know who has their back. I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the South Florida PBA, Florida State FOP District 6, the Hispanic Police Officers Association, the Police Officers Defense Coalition, and Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz," Salazar wrote. "In Congress, I’ve secured millions to strengthen public safety and will keep fighting to give our officers the support they deserve so they can keep our communities safe."
Rep. Salazar is in a Republican primary with Attorney Vincent Michael Arias for the nomination. Former CBS News Miami Anchor Elliot Rodriguez and Robin Peguero are running on the Democratic ticket.
The primary is Aug. 18, with the general election on Nov. 3.
