Attorney general candidate Jose Javier Rodriguez (D) shared that he has been endorsed by U.S. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) in his race for the position in a social media post this week.

"I’m honored to have @MaxwellFrostFL's support in my campaign for Attorney General," Rodriguez wrote. "Maxwell has been a fearless advocate for working people and a powerful voice for a new generation demanding accountability from government. It's time to restore accountability in Florida."

Rep. Frost, a Gen Z progressive, has represented District 10 since 2023. The district includes a majority of Orange County in Central Florida, including most of Orlando. Frost is arguably one of the bigger names to endorse Rodriguez since he started his attorney general campaign in June 2025.

Along with Rep. Frost, Rodriguez has received support from former Florida U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, ex-Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, former Palm Beach County State Attorney and ex-State Sen. Dave Aronberg, and former State Rep. Sean Shaw.

In addition, Rodriguez earned the endorsement of the Florida AFL-CIO’s Committee on Political Education last week. The Florida AFL-CIO is the state's largest labor federation.

Rodriguez, who grew up in Miami and attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School, served two terms in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012 to 2016. He was also elected to the Florida Senate from 2016 to 2020.

Most recently, Rodriguez served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment in the Biden administration from 2024-2025.

Rodriguez is facing off against Jim Lews in the Democratic primary. Steven Leskovich and incumbent Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier are on the Republican ballot.

While facing a challenge, Attorney General Uthmeier is likely the favorite in the Republican primary and in the general election. President Donald Trump, the Republican Party of Florida, the Associated Industries of Florida, and more have all endorsed Uthmeier in the race.

The primary is Aug. 18, 2026, with the general election on Nov. 3.
