President Donald Trump called Iran’s counterproposal to end the 10-week war in the Middle East, “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” rejecting the Islamic Republic’s offer on Truth Social.

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called 'Representatives.' I don’t like it,” President Trump wrote over the weekend, without providing details of the proposed agreement.

Iran's Response to 'Unreasonable' & 'Excessive Demands'

According to NBC News, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, fired back at President Trump’s rejection, accusing the U.S. of “one-sided views” and “making unreasonable” and “excessive demands” during a press conference.

“Everything we proposed was reasonable and generous not only for Iran’s national interests, but also for the good and well-being of the region and the world,” Baghaei added.

“We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat. Rather, the goal is to uphold the rights of the Iranian nation and to defend national interests with resolute strength,” Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, also affirmed on X.

Alleged Details of Iran's Counterproposal

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Iran proposed ending the conflict and an incremental opening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial traffic, so long as the U.S. lifts its blockade of the Gulf of Oman, blocking Iranian ships and ports.

The counterproposal does not resolve the U.S.’s desired fate of Iran’s nuclear program and its stockpile of highly enriched uranium; Iran instead affirms that nuclear issues would be negotiated over the next 30 days.

Iran also offered to have some of its stockpile diluted, with the rest being transferred to a third country amid nuclear talks.

Should talks between both nations fail or the U.S. exit the agreement at a later stage, Iran calls for the peaceful transfer of its uranium.

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated news agency, Tasnim, also reported Tehran’s demands for the lifting of sanctions by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control on Iranian oil sales for a proposed 30-day period.

Iran also reportedly requested the release of its frozen assets abroad.
