WASHINGTON— Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D), the outspoken and controversial Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives,  expressed her disdain towards President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans like Rep. Byron Donalds during a House Judiciary Committee hearing with FBI Director Kash Patel.

Rep. Crockett appears to play the race card against her detractors at every corner, and in her recent interaction with FBI Director Patel, she invoked race in the conversation.

During her turn to address or question Director Patel, Crockett used her time to impugn him, calling him the “least qualified FBI Director” that has ever existed, and questioning his credentials.

“When I say that you are the least qualified FBI director in the history of the FBI, that is real,” said Crockett. “Why are you a failure, and why, honestly we just need to tell you bye-bye.”Crockett added that because of the white supremacy she says exists in the U.S., she doesn’t feel safe being a black woman.

“I don't know who feels safe in this country except for the white supremacists, because I, specifically as a black woman, definitely don’t feel safe,” she added.

Shortly after the Judiciary Committee wrapped up its 5 hour long interview with Patel, Texas Politics caught up with one of Crockett’s House Republican colleagues, Rep. Wesley Hunt, who dismissed her divisive use of race.

“I'm the opposite of blaming everything on race. I think in a hearing I said before, it's like the boy that cried wolf —every time everything becomes a race issue, and the bottom line is that everything cannot be about race, everything is not about race,” said Rep. Hunt.

Rep. Hunt, who is black,  then went on to say that while racism existed 50-60 years ago, today, nothing is “stopping anybody from being as successful as they want to be in this country,” including Crockett, who is a sitting member of Congress.

When asked about Crockett invoking the race card during the hearing, another Black American congressman, Rep. Byron Donalds (R), laughed off  her remarks, saying that he didn’t care about anything she had to say.

“I heard she doesn't even have a congressional seat anymore, so it doesn't really matter to me what she says,” said a laughing Rep. Donalds.

Rep. Donalds is referring to the recently redrawn congressional seats in Texas, where it appears as if Crockett has been drawn out of her congressional district.
