After significant pushback from congressional Democrats about holding the 2020 G7 summit at his Doral, Florida resort, President Trump announced on Twitter that he would “no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020.”

As expected, House Democrats like Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell are taking full credit for the president’s decision, saying that by them standing up “for the rule of law and demanding the President not use his office to line his own pockets,” that they succeeded in holding him accountable.

Other prominent Democrats were also quick to condemn the president’s move to hold the summit at one of his resorts.

“We cannot normalize corrupt behavior,” stated Wasserman Schultz “This is just one more Trump self-enrichment scheme, one that raises glaring ethical and Emoluments clause concerns. When will Republicans stand up to say this is not okay, this is not how American leaders should conduct themselves?”

“Hosting a major foreign leader summit at a Trump hotel,” tweeted Biden “Donald Trump continues to abuse his power to line his own pockets. Time to put up (your tax returns) or shut up Mr. President.”
