As Floridians in the state’s Gulf Bend and Tampa Bay areas continue to struggle to recover after Hurricane Helene made landfall last week as a Category 4 storm, two of Florida’s top political figures are on the frontlines helping those affected by the storm, and trying to draw attention to the recovery efforts.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been leading the charge with his daily updates and his directing of state assets to the region, but Senator Rick Scott, who governed the state for 8 years prior to Gov., DeSantis taking over, has also been traversing the region in hopes to bring much-needed awareness and updates to the plight of locals picking up the pieces from the storm.

Sen. Scott was recently in Levy County assessing the damage, adding that he has been working with federal agencies like the American Red Cross, FEMA, and the Small Business Administration, to help Floridians recover from the storm.

“If you or someone you know needs help with a federal agency while recovering from #Helene, contact my team,” stated Sen. Scott on “X.”

One of the businesses Scott visited, 83’ West in Cedar Key, was all-but completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene.
