Vice President Kamala Harris (D) recently released an advertisement, highlighting her "tough on crime" position and showing footage of the southern border wall. Critics have since called out the Harris-Walz campaign for showing the footage as it's the border wall that was constructed under President Donald Trump's (R) Administration. As voters question if the vice president has shifted her border stance, the Trump campaign has responded, urging her to stop "cowering behind" surrogates.
In just two weeks Vice President Harris and President Trump will meet on the debate stage to debate over the pressing issues that the country faces. One topic that's expected to be discussed is the southern border.
President Trump has maintained a hardline approach, and now his campaign is warning that the incumbent vice president is only utilizing "smoke & mirrors" to show a tougher stance on the border.
Karoline Leavitt, the National Press Secretary for President Trump's campaign, released a statement, accusing Vice President Harris of not addressing the American people and also directing blame at the media for not calling on the vice president to answer policy questions.
“How much longer will the mainstream media allow Kamala Harris to hide and use staff to speak on her behalf?" Leavitt questioned. "It’s DAY 37 of ZERO interviews and Kamala’s anonymous campaign sources are now claiming she supports President Trump’s border wall -- this is a preposterous and false claim."
"Kamala’s RECORD proves she is pro-open border. She called the wall 'un-American, a 'waste of taxpayer money,' 'medieval,' and said it isn't going to "stop" illegal immigration," Leavitt further commented.
"As a senator, Kamala tried to block President Trump's construction of the border wall. As Border Czar, Kamala Harris halted construction of the border wall. Kamala’s ACTIONS speak much louder than the WORDS of the anonymous staff she is cowering behind.”
