With state Rep. Gayle Harrell, R-Stuart, already in the race, a Democrat has opened a campaign account to run for a seat that will be vacated in 2020 by Senate President Joe Negron. Stuart Democrat Robert Isaac Levy opened an account Friday to run in Senate District 25, which includes Martin, St. Lucie and part of Palm Beach counties, according to the state Division of Elections website.

Negron’s term as president will end in November, but he can stay in the Senate until 2020, when he will face term limits. Harrell opened an account for the race in October and had raised $17,720 and loaned $100,000 to her campaign as of Dec. 31, a finance report shows.
