Over the weekend, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) held a campaign rally in Melbourne, Florida. In the rally, Rubio discussed the upcoming race, his time in the Senate, and Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey also praised Senator Rubio’s efforts in office. In speaking about Democrats in the upcoming midterm election, Senator Rubio said that “they will destroy the country.”

Sheriff Ivey, who was one of a number of Florida Sheriffs that endorsed Rubio earlier this year, once again took to the stage to praise Rubio's time in office.

"When we talk about keeping our communities safe, the men and women in uniform, regardless of what agency they work for, deserve to have somebody in Washington that stands up for them," Sheriff Ivey said, arguing that Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), Rubio's political rival, has not stood up for law enforcement.

"I had an opportunity to work with her. And I wasn't impressed with her when she was over in Orlando as the Chief and I'm even less impressed with her in Washington," Ivey commented.

When Rubio spoke to attendees, he directed verbal jabs at Demings and President Joe Biden (D) while also criticizing Democrats as a whole.

"These people are not liberals, they are not progressives. They've gone well beyond that. And they'll destroy this country if they're left unstopped," Rubio said, affirming that if left "unchecked, they will destroy the country.

“And I say this to you as someone who was raised by people who lost their country," Rubio added, vowing to his supporters that "there is no way in the world that I’m going to sit back, being in the position I’m in, and allow these people to destroy our country and lose my country the way the people who raised me lost their country.”
