Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was at The White House where he and several other states governors discussed criminal justice reform with Administration officials
“In his first two years in office, President Trump has worked with Members of Congress, State and Local officials, and other private and public sector partners in a bipartisan fashion to make our criminal justice system fairer for all Americans. This culminated last year in the President signing the landmark First Step Act, a bill that reforms decades of failed sentencing policies, will reduce recidivism, and will help prepare inmates to successfully reintegrate into society.
Governors and Administration officials discussed successful State prison and criminal justice reform efforts and how the Governors have reduced recidivism and improved reentry policies in their own States. Additionally, participants discussed what further actions can be taken at the Federal level to promote job training and reintegration for former prisoners, including during the implementation of the First Step Act.”- The White House
