After more poor economic numbers came out from the Biden administration, and a Florida attack ad launched by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Florida Congressman, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) took to Twitter to respond to both events.

“Facts of Biden's Economic Crisis the White House doesn't want you to know: The GDP decreased by 1.6% in Q1 of 2022. Real wages are down 4% since Biden took office," said Rep. Donalds.  "Real avg hourly earnings are down by 3.0%. Inflation is costing Americans an extra $5,520 a year.”

President Joe Biden (D) has used the Russo-Ukrainian War as an excuse for the slimming of the average American’s wallet. He has repeatedly blamed the “Putin Price-Hike” for the increases on payments at the pump and for inflation. According to recent polling by RealClearPolitics, President Biden’s average approval rating sits at 38.4%, and his disapproval rating is at 56.8%.

Moreover, in an unprecedented move, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) released an attack ad on the state of Florida and Governor DeSantis while simultaneously attempting to retain his own seat as governor of the golden state.

“We’re about to celebrate Independence Day -- but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida. Banning books. Restricting speech. Making it harder to vote. Criminalizing women and doctors. It’s time to stand up. Don’t let them take your freedom," said Gov. Newsom.

However, Byron Donalds gave a response to the Newsom ad with a tweet of his own:

“Gavin, if California and Florida are on the ballot, Florida wins every day, ending in Y. The last time I checked, people aren’t leaving MY state in droves – they’re fleeing YOURS.”

According to FiveThirtyEight, Gov. DeSantis sits at a +10 PARG (Popularity Above Replacement Governor) which is calculated by how far left or right each state leans compared to the popularity of the governor) approval rating while Gov. Newsom sits at -5.

DeSantis has a +18 approval rating in a state that has a Republican lean of +8. He is outperforming his expected approval rating.

Newsom has a +20 approval rating in a state that  has a Democratic lean of +25. He is underperforming his expected approval rating.
