Tallahassee—During this week’s Senate Committee on Health, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo face intensive questioning from Senate Democrats, as he made continued the vetting process with state legislators.

Sen. Janet Cruz (D) became increasingly agitated with Surgeon Genrera Ladapo during her questioning, accusing him of talking in circles before asking him to tell the committee more about himself. Sen. Cruz added that Dr. Ladapo's testimony was "mired in words upon words" and "nonsense upon nonsense."

Sen. Cruz even asked Dr. Ladapo if he “grew up poor” and if he “grew up entitled.”

Sen. Cruz: Can you tell me a bit about yourself?  Are you the son of physicians? Did you grow up, where did you grow up? Did you grow up poor?  Did you grow up entitled? tell me a little bit about you.

Dr. Ladapo: I was born in Nigeria. My parents moved her to the United States, to Louisiana when I was five. My parents were students. They didn’t have much money at all, and I grew up in Louisiana, and then they moved to Georgia, and still didn’t have much money.

And my dad got his Ph.D. and was a postdoc and a professor. My parents, they’ve always done their best for us and they always emphasized the importance of education, and they did the best that they could for us, and I love them
