Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has offered current Michigan U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens (D) political refuge while she remains in office after the Michigan Democratic Party kicked her out of the coalition for endorsing the state’s Republican U.S. Senate challenger, Mike Rogers (Mich.).
My office will happily assist @RepHaleyStevens with anything she needs, including constituent services, during her remaining time in the 119th Congress.
She has done more for this country than the majority of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle by taking a stand and putting country over party.
Let this be an example to all.

"Let this be an example to all," Congresswoman Luna wrote.
The congresswoman praised Rep. Stevens for her last-minute announcement, calling it a patriotic move.
"[Haley Stevens] did something most politicians fail to do on a regular basis: she put her country over her party," Rep. Luna wrote on X. "Against massive political pressure she endorsed [Mike Rogers] for Senate. Well done, Haley. I tip my hat to you."
Well done @HaleyforMI ! This was not easy for her to do. Lot’s of political pressure on her. She did the right thing. Bravo. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Haley Stevens' Last-Minute Switch
Just two days before Election Day, Congresswoman Stevens published a video revealing her endorsement switch after publicly endorsing and supporting Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed up until the day before the switch.
Since the lead-up to the 2026 Midterm primaries and her eventual loss, Congresswoman Stevens and El-Sayed's relationship remained strained. So much so that in the week before the general election, Stevens threatened to withdraw her support for the Democrat after backing him in Aug. 2026.
Michigan Democratic Party Condemns Stevens
In response to Stevens' video, the Michigan Democratic Party reaffirmed its support for El-Sayed and lambasted Congresswoman Stevens for her attempts to divide the coalition.
Michigan Democrats stand united and fully behind @AbdulElSayed. We reject the attempts by Haley Stevens and bad-faith actors to divide our party and undermine our momentum.

"Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future," the Democratic Party's chair Curtis Hertel Jr. wrote in a follow-up post.
President Trump Praises Stevens
President Donald Trump also praised Rep. Stevens for her political maneuver calling her a brave, great, and loyal figure to the people of Michigan.
"Wow this is BIG! Congresswoman Haley Stevens, a Highly Respected Democrat, who narrowly lost in the Primary to Abdul Mohamed El-Sayed, and who has been breathlessly wined and dined by the Dumocrats to help in their Michigan Campaign for the United States Senate against Mike Rogers, has just ENDORSED Mike Rogers for Senate!" President Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"She showed great and almost unprecedented loyalty to the Great People of Michigan with what she did. It's a thing called bravery, and few people have it like just displayed by Congresswoman Haley Stevens."
