Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) shared a campaign ad asserting Democratic challenger David Jolly has an open-door policy for Democrats who want to come help him win his bid for governor.
The 50-second ad begins with Jolly saying he would "welcome anybody in today's Democratic party" in response to a question from CBS News Miami's Jim Defede on having former Vice President Kamala Harris campaign with him on the trail.
"David Jolly says he’ll 'welcome anybody from the Democratic Party' to campaign with him. Roll the tape — David Jolly and his fellow Democrats are too far-left for Florida," Donalds wrote to the ad.
Multiple other Democrats are also used to insinuate the welcome, including Texas U.S. Sen. candidate James Talarico, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former Missouri Congresswoman Cori Bush, Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and Michigan Sen. candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
"God is non-binary," Talarico says.
"Trans girls are girls," Ocasio-Cortez says.
"Defunding the police has to happen," Bush says.
"We need to completely dismantle the police department," Omar says.
"Do police really need to use guns?" Adbul El-Sayed says.
In addition, the ad references New York Congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier and ex-Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner for their preferences for communism, as well as Talarico's preference to dismantle capitalism.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a lightning rod among Republicans, is also featured. Rep. Donalds has compared David Jolly to Mamdani, a self-described Democratic socialist, in the past.
"We will replace the virginity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism," Mamdani says.Â
Mamdani, along with Ocasio-Cortez and Bush, are members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Democratic U.S. Sen. candidate Angie Nixon (D-FL) is also a member of the DSA.
The ad concludes by stating, "David Jolly's Democrat Party Too Extreme For Florida."
