Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a statement on social media, urging President Donald Trump to lend his country financial aid. In response to President Zelenskyy’s statement, U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, called for Ukraine to give the U.S. $40 billion due to recent events.
“It’s crucial to have $40 billion annually in budgetary support for Ukraine – to ensure our resilience and the ability of our country to carry on.” he said. “Together, we must continue urging President Trump to use the influence he really has – to force Putin to end this war. It was the U.S. and President Trump who proposed a ceasefire,” Zelenskyy said.
“In light of recent events, I am formally requesting $40 billion per year from the government of Ukraine, on behalf of the great People of the United States, as budgetary support for our time.” Luna responded.
Rep. Luna has been an outspoken critic of the Ukrainian Government and its need for U.S. military and financial support, chastising the Biden administration before President Donald Trump's inauguration.
She called the Biden administration’s $1.25 billion weapons package to Ukraine as “tone-deaf.”
Since the start of the Russian-Ukraine War estimates calculated that the United States has spent $119.7 billion on financial support to Ukraine.
Since President Trump’s inauguration, the funding to Ukraine has been halted altogether as the Trump administration has been working on ceasefire deals between Russia and Ukraine.
Despite numerous ceasefire talks, Russia and President Vladimir Putin have refused to step down their assault as President Zelenskyy criticizes Trump peace talks.
