Rep. Fine Files Articles of Impeachment Against Judge Charles Breyer

In the wake of the 2025 LA riots, President Donald Trump ordered the California National Guard to be sent to assist local police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers last Saturday.

However, Trump faced opposition from U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer as he stated in a Thursday evening order in response to Newsom's request for emergency relief that “the president did not follow congressionally mandated procedures by federalizing the California National Guard.”

In response to Breyer’s ruling, U.S. Rep. Randy Fine, (R-FL), took to social media declaring the ruling as unconstitutional.

“I’ll be filing articles of impeachment against radical leftist judge Charles Breyer for attempting to unconstitutionally undermine the absolute authority of @POTUS Donald Trump as Commander-in-Chief.” Fine said.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier also weighed in, defending the deployment and warning against targeting federal agents.

“Border Patrol and ICE agents enforcing immigration law deserve protection from leftists trying to harm them. If the left doxes these agents, we will have their backs.” Uthmeier said.

“Whether you make the poor choice to riot or publish an agent's personal information online to bring harm, you are committing a crime in Florida. We will find you and hold you accountable.”

However, a U.S. appeals court overturned Judge Breyer’s ruling two hours later, cutting short California Governor Gavin Newsom’s victory and allowing President Trump to maintain his deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles.

Newsom still remains “confident, on the basis of the review of the 36 pages - absolutely it will stand," he said in an interview with Reuters.

Although the court overturned the ruling, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' decision does not guarantee it will ultimately side with Trump, but it keeps command of the National Guard with the president for now.
