Florida Lawmakers Condemn Antisemitic Road Rage Incident Against Fellow Member

Florida lawmakers defend  Rep. Rep, Max Miller, a Jewish Ohio Congressman, after an driver allegedly ran him off the road in Rocky River, Ohio. Rep. Miller described the incident as an “antisemitic” road rage event.

Rep. Miller posted on social media and called out the driver writing, “The deranged hatred in this country has gotten out of control.”

He continued his post describing the suspect and vowing to pursue justice.

“The life of me and my family was threatened by a person who proceeded to show a Palestinian flag before taking off. I have filed a police report with Capitol Police and the local police department. We know who this person is and he will face justice.” said Miller.

Florida lawmakers, took to social media, standing in solidarity with Miller and condemning the recent wave of antisemitism seen across the country.

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, (R-FL), calls for an end to antisemitism, stating, “Antisemitism has no place in America. Praying for the safety of Max and his family.”

U.S. Rep. Randy Fine, (R-FL), highlighted the increasing dangers Jewish Americans—and especially Jewish lawmakers—are facing.

“When lawmakers and Jews are being targeted every day, it’s especially dangerous to be a Jewish lawmaker.” he said. “We need to confront the evil that is antisemitism at the source.”

Sen. Rick Scott, (R-FL), urged Americans to unite against antisemitism and stand in solidarity with Miller.

“Every American must condemn this evil hatred. Thank God that Congressman Miller and his family are safe.” Scott said.

An article written by Time magazine noted that antisemitic incidents and hate crimes against Jewish Americans have surged in recent years, particularly since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023.

The article cited a report by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which found that “in the three months following the start of the war, antisemitic incidents in the U.S. skyrocketed by 361%.”
