The City of Miami Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #20 recently announced that it's backing Ralph Rosado for Miami's District 4 commission seat, which is currently vacant. The Miami FOP is one of the more respected organizations advocating for law enforcement professionals in the area.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police," Rosado said in a release. "Our police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our families safe. As a commissioner, I will work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to ensure they have the resources, training, and community support they need to do their jobs effectively and responsibly. A safer Miami is a stronger Miami."
In its endorsement, the FOP said Ralph Rosado has a "longstanding commitment to public safety," including for law enforcement protecting area neighborhoods. The FOP also said Rosado focuses on practical solutions that impact the District 4 community.
They added that Rosado would push for neighborhood stability and infrastructure improvements in their support. District 4 includes Coral Gate, Shenandoah, and Flagami.
Rosado is a Miami Native with prior experience as City Manager of North Bay Village. Over his career, Rosado has helped Miami-Dade secure billions in investments and pass one of its largest infrastructure bonds.
A son of Cuban exiles, Rosado graduated with a PhD in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he earned a Master's in Public Policy and Urban Planning from Princeton University.
Other candidates vying for the District 4 seat include former City of Miami Assistant Building Director Jose Regalado. The special election is set for June 3.
