President Donald Trump (R) has appointed Jackie Schutz Zeckman to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, a prestigious body that oversees the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and promotes awareness of the Holocaust and the fight against antisemitism.

Zeckman, who previously served as chief of staff and a trusted advisor to Senator Rick Scott (R) for 14 years, brings a deeply personal connection to her new role. As the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, Zeckman has been a vocal advocate for Holocaust remembrance and the defense of Jewish communities.

After the announcement, Senator Scott took to social media to applaud her appointment, highlighting her lifelong commitment to combating antisemitism and honoring the legacy of Holocaust victims.

“Congratulations to Jackie Schutz Zeckman, my former chief of staff and trusted advisor for 14 years, for being named to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council by President Donald Trump,” Scott wrote on X.

“The granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, Jackie has dedicated her life to ensuring people never forget the atrocities. She is a true champion for standing against antisemitism and standing up for Jewish students and our great friend, Israel.”

Zeckman joins the Council at a time when reports indicate that antisemitism is on the rise both in the U.S. and globally. According to the American Jewish Committee's latest State of Antisemitism in America Report, "Roughly three-quarters (77%) of American Jews said they feel less safe as a Jewish person in the U.S. because of the October 7 attacks, with nine in 10 saying that antisemitism in the U.S. has increased since that fateful day.

“She joins a prestigious group of fighters on the board who will stand with President Trump, the most pro-Israel president ever, to preserve and protect the Jewish community,” he said.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Council was established in 1980 to ensure that the memory of the Holocaust remains a permanent part of the nation’s consciousness.
