Rick Scott Says Byron Donalds Would Beat Casey DeSantis

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), Florida's most recent governor before Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), appeared on the Brian Kilmeade Show and discussed the prospect of Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) becoming the Sunshine State's next leader.

President Donald Trump (R) already endorsed Rep. Donalds a few days before he even announced his gubernatorial candidacy.

Gov. DeSantis' wife, Casey, is rumored to be mulling over a gubernatorial run.

Kilmeade asked Sen. Scott about endorsing Rep. Donalds. Sen. Scott responded by saying that he is "going to everything he can" to assist the Florida congressman but did not flat-out endorse him.

"Byron is a friend," said Scott. "He's my congressman where I live, and so I'm going to do everything I can to be helpful to him. I think he'll be a phenomenal governor. I think he's going to win. I'm glad that Trump endorsed him."

Furthermore, when asked about the potential of Casey DeSantis entering the race and how it would affect the likelihood of Donalds winning, Scott doubled down on his prediction.

"Byron Donalds is going to win. Byron's got a track record. I worked with him when I was governor, and I've worked with him since I've been up as a U.S. senator," said Scott. "He works his butt off. He believes in the right things. He'll work hard for the State of Florida. I don't think anybody is going to beat him."

Finally, the former Florida governor added that President Trump's endorsement is "golden" and serves Donalds well with the Sunshine State's electorate.

"And plus, Donald Trump's endorsement is golden in this state. In Florida we love Donald Trump," concluded Scott.

In late February, Donalds announced his candidacy. He mentioned this while appearing on Fox News' "Hannity" to break the news.

"After a lot of prayer, after a lot of thought with my family and with my friends, I'm here to announce my candidacy to be the next Governor of the great state of Florida," Donalds said on Hannity, speaking during the 9:45 p.m. slot.
