Meg Weinberger
State Rep. Meg Weinberger appears to have a political target painted on her back after a second political attack against her was levied, this time for flying a “Trump—Make America Great Again” flag on her house in Tallahassee, Florida.
Rep. Weinberger recently purchased a house in Tallahassee so that she did not have to live out of a hotel or commute back and forth from Palm Beach County during the yearly legislative session.
In an email she and her husband Eric received from Sue Barlow, Operations Manager from Lewis Association Property Management, LLC, the Weinbergers were asked to “remove the Trump flag hanging in front of your home so that that peace and harmony, continues within the community.”
Barlow qualified her request by stating that past political signs were removed when asked, adding that “political signs and flags” create “a lot of stress among neighbors.”
The Weinbergers responded to the email questioning the flag removal request.
— There is nothing in the covenants to prevent this
— You were extremely rude and i will not tolerate your behavior.
— There are many flags in this neighborhood and i am curious as to why you singled out our home??
— You are not a trump supporter and therefore you took it upon yourself to make this call and act in a most disrespectful manner.
— I take you email as a threat that there will not be peace and harmony in the neighborhood.
The apparent bullying of the Weinberger’s pressed Trump-endorsed State Rep. Juan Porras (R), who has championed Home Owner Association (HOA) reform, to respond to The Floridian’s request for comment about the flag request.
“It is unacceptable that we allow these HOA’s and their corrupt boards to continue to bully homeowners on what they can and cannot have outside their homes. It has come to my attention that one of my colleagues is actively being harassed to remove a MAGA flag outside her home by her HOA,” said Rep. Porras in a statement. “Selective enforcement happens in these communities every day, and it is no surprise that they are targeting the home of a Republican lawmaker displaying their support of the President.”
Earlier this year. Rep. Weinberger was asked to leave the Governor’s Inn in Tallahassee because she voted in favor of Speaker Daniel Perez’s “Trump Act.”
Weinberger was kicked out but later was allowed to stay. She left the next morning.
