Replacing DeSantis and Donalds a Heavy Lift in Florida

Filling Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' big shoes when he  leaves office in 2026 is a heavy lift, and so is filling the void that Rep. Byron Donalds (R) creates in the U.S. House of Representatives if he wins the Republican gubernatorial nomination and the governorship.

Both men are big political figures, who alongside President Donald Trump, have helped designate Florida as the epicenter of Republican politics.

Rep. Donalds  will likely be the Republican gubernatorial nominee, but who will replace him in Congress?

Wait, we still haven't heard the last of First Lady Casey DeSantis and her potential run for governor, so let’s keep that in mind.

There is quite a list growing of potential Republican replacement for Donalds’ congressional seat, including several political retreads like Casey Askar, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, Rep. Chris Collins, and Catalina Lauf.

Former State Rep. Spencer Roach could probably be considered the frontrunner (if there is one) because of his name recognition in the region. Roach recently told The Floridian that he is strongly considering a run for Donald’s seat/
