The Republican Party of Miami-Dade is hosting former Republican vice presidential candidate and formerAlaska Governor Sarah Palin at its First Annual Women’s History Month Liberty Breakfast on March 22nd.
"Governor Palin’s groundbreaking 2008 candidacy for vice president shattered barriers for women in politics and inspired a new wave of female leadership," Miami-Dade Republican Party Chairman Kevin Cooper told The Floridian. "Her trailblazing example continues to resonate, and we’re proud to showcase her as we highlight the strong, diverse role that women play in our party’s success—here in Miami-Dade and across the nation."
Sarah Palin became the first woman nominated for vice president by the Republican Party under presidential nominee John McCain in 2008. She also became the first woman elected governor of Alaska in 2006 and was the youngest governor in state history at 42.
The release also mentioned Palin for her "independent, reform-minded leadership." In addition, it said she has remained a powerful voice in the conservative movement and has "inspired generations of women to take leadership roles in politics and public life."
The Miami-Dade GOP and Palin will seek to energize the grassroots in preparation for the 2026 midterms. The breakfast will also serve as an opportunity to fundraise for the Miami-Dade GOP to ensure it remains strong and unified for the future.
In December, the Miami-Dade GOP nominated Kevin Cooper as its youngest chairman in the group's history.
