House Democratic Rep. Angela "Angie" Nixon (D-Jacksonville) didn't appear thrilled after Florida Congressman Byron Donalds asserted that he would keep "Florida Great" after President Donald Trump endorsed his potential run for governor.
"No thanks. Florida isn’t great right now. Folks are suffering. You’ll only make it worse for hard working Floridians. Please just go away," Nixon said.
The remark from Angie Nixon came after Byron Donalds responded to President Donald Trump's praise of him on Truth Social.
"President Trump is Making America Great Again. I am committed with him to Keep Florida Great," Donalds said.
Donalds also hinted that an announcement would be coming soon, possibly over his decision to run for Florida Governor. The 46-year-old congressman is one of Trump's biggest allies on the Hill and is considered a rising star in his own right within GOP ranks.
"I know Byron well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a TOTAL WINNER," Trump said.
In addition, Trump boasted that Donalds would have a "BIG" voice as governor in implementing his America First agenda, including securing the border and stopping migrant crime. He also mentioned the pair would protect veterans and restore America's economic and energy dominance, as well as defend the Second Amendment.
Days ago, Trump shared a poll showing Donalds with a big lead in a hypothetical primary for Florida governor over former Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez, Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson, and Miami Mayor Francis Saurez.
Just don't mention that to Nixon, who seems unimpressed by the idea.
Angie Nixon is the House representative for District 14 which includes part of Duval County. She retained her seat in the HD 14 general election in essentially a no-contest with over 99% of the vote over No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate Terry Jordan last November.
"Byron Donalds would be truly a great and powerful governor for Florida, and should he decide to run, will have my complete and total endorsement," Trump concluded. "RUN, BYRON, RUN"
