Zelensky Claims Trump Could be ‘Decisive’ in Ending Russia-Ukraine War

President elect Donald Trump has been lauded by Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky as potentially “decisive” in ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

President Zelensky claimed President Trump’s “unpredictability” could be leveraged to help reach an end in the war during an interview with Ukrainian media.

“He’s very strong and unpredictable, and I would really like to see President Trump’s unpredictability apply to Russia,” said Zelensky.

Trump has previously alleged he would end the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as he is inaugurated.

“I think if we win, I think we’re going to get it resolved very quickly…I really think we’re going to get it,” said Trump during a New York summit with Zelesnky.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has similarly publicly demonstrated willingness to negotiate with Trump

Some European critics predict Trump’s approach would include imposing unfavorable conditions on Ukraine.

Conversely, others are more optimistic as they forecast Trump would threaten Putin with expanded US support for Ukraine lest Russia cease fighting.

Meanwhile, republicans have blamed President Joe Biden for permitting the war in the first place through conciliatory policies that emboldened Russia.

Trump has echoed such sentiment, repeatedly asserting the war “would never have happened” had he been president.

Moreover, Republicans have also complained of ineffective and untraceable US military aid to Ukraine in the face of smaller contributions from European countries.

According to the Kiel Institute, the US has granted Ukraine nearly 75% of the total financial support European nations have.

On a country-specific basis, the US’s military and financial Ukraine aid significantly exceeds all other nations.

To date, the US has granted over $75 billion in military and financial aid to Ukraine.
