Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
WASHINGTON—As President Donald Trump continues to address all of his campaign promises of overhauling the entire federal government, House Democrats are using his executive orders and tough position on immigration as an opportunity to amplify their anti-Trump bona fides.
Democrats are dismissing President Trump’s “Golden Age” remark during his inauguration speech, accusing him of “planning” taking advantage of his position for personal gain.
When The Floridian asked Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) about Trump’s “Golden Age” remark, the veteran congresswoman from South Florida did not hold back her feelings for the president.
“I think he’s planning to gild his pockets and the pockets of his billionaire oligarch buddies,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz. “This is a guy who the only gold things he cares about is his staircase, his toilets, the accouterments of power and wealth.”
Wasserman Schultz continued, saying that the picture of America Trump painted in his inaugural speech,” Painted a picture of America that resembles nothing that I’m familiar with.
With Republicans controlling both the chambers of Congress, there is very little congressional Democrats can do to halt the Republican effort to push through Trump’s “America First Agenda.”
