Evan Power re-elected as Florida GOP Chairman in Decisive Vote

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power resoundingly won re-election to lead the state party for another two years on Saturday.

"Congratulations Chairman @EvanPower on your well deserved victory! Under your leadership the Republican Party of Florida has reached new heights and we know there’s a bright future ahead with you at the helm," the Florida GOP said. 

Held at the Florida GOP's quarterly meeting at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Power handily defeated Charlotte County GOP Chair Dave Kalin in a 183-19 vote. First elected in January 2024 to replace Christian Ziegler, the 43-year-old has helped increase the party's already strong position in the state.

In his tenure, President-elect Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in Florida in November by 13 points. At the state level, House Republicans currently hold 87 seats in the 120-member chamber while the Senate has 28 Republicans out of 40 seats.

Power has also helped grow the GOP's voter registration lead over Democrats in Florida to 1.16 million. In 2023, Republicans held an 800,000-register advantage over Democrats.

State officials, including Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, congratulated Power on his re-election on Saturday.

"Congratulations, Chairman @EvanPower on your election! @FloridaGOP's future is bright as we continue to elect competent conservative leaders that will ensure Florida remains prosperous, safe, and free. I’m glad to be a part of our great Republican team!" Moody said. 

House Speaker Daniel Perez also congratulated Power on X.

"Congratulations Chairman @EvanPower on your decisive victory today! Florida Republicans are in great hands as we continue to keep Florida the freest state in the nation," Perez said.

The party also chose a new vice chair in Jovante Teague. Teague, chair of the Dixie County GOP, unseated former Vice Chair Jesse Phillips in a 130-70 vote.
