Donalds Torches Biden Awarding Medals to January 6th Committee's Liz Cheney, Bennie Thompson

President Biden recently awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, the second-highest honor bestowed upon civilians, to former Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS) for leading the January 6th Committee, an award Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) said he was "highly offended, but not surprised" by in a recent appearance on Fox News's Hannity.

Additionally, Rep. Donalds said the award demonstrated how "Joe Biden and his White House have lived in the bizarro land where no other Americans really exist," hence why "the presidency under Joe Biden has been an abject disaster, this is just one of the last pieces of icing on the cake."

Moreover, he accused the "fake" January 6th Committee of having the sole purpose to "basically put a lot of propaganda out into the information stream to go after and attack Donald Trump," describing how it not only "completely backfired" but "suppressed information" and "tampered with evidence."

For instance, in June 2023, former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) sought to censure Rep. Thompson for allegedly turning committee records over to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rather than the House Clerk, which he called "a flagrant violation of House rules."

In mid-December, Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) released a report suggesting Rep. Cheney colluded with the Committee's "star witness," Cassidy Hutchinson, without Hutchinson's lawyer's knowledge, knowingly giving false testimony during her hearing. President-elect Donald Trump further added that such allegations were worthy of investigation, saying Cheney "could be in a lot of trouble based on the evidence obtained by the subcommittee."

Rep. Donalds referenced the revelation during the Hannity discussion, saying, "There are reports out there that they [the committee] were actually tampering with witnesses sitting in front of that committee, something that has frankly never happened in the halls of Congress."

"So for [Cheney and Thompson] to be rewarded for, frankly, the lack of transparency and honesty they gave to the American people is disgusting. But why are we surprised? This is the presidency of Joe Biden, the very worst presidency in the history of our country," Donalds concluded.
