Florida-based security firm Kent Security Services could be on the verge of being inundated with unprecedented scrutiny. According to Miami Herald reports Brothers Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander are subject to an avalanche of sexual assault-related allegations.

The Alexander family is tied to various business interests, including a private security company Kent Security Services, which was founded by the brothers' parents.

Alon Alexander has recently been listed on Sunbiz.org as the company’s President. However, despite the Alexander family’s ongoing connection to the company, his name was removed from its leadership roster.

Among its clientele, Kent Security Services has been selling security services to taxpayer-funded public agencies, including holding contracts with the State of Florida and various local governments. Even now, the company is awaiting a decision from the City of Miami Beach regarding a recent bid to provide public safety services there.

The State of Florida can say that the allegations against the Alexanders were not well-publicized when Kent Security Services was awarded a three-year state contract beginning October 1, 2024. The City of Miami Beach, however, should be fully aware of the allegations given high profile news coverage of the charges and the family's extensive connections to the area.

A Pattern of Predation?

The federal criminal charges against Alon Alexander, his brothers, and their associates allege a decade-long scheme that accuses them of drugging, assaulting, and trafficking women, and of exploiting their positions of power.

It gets worse.

A new federal civil lawsuit involving Oren and Alon Alexander in Colorado has been filed, accusing them of raping two additional women, bringing the number of accusers to over 40.

These cases allege  a systemic pattern of abuse that starkly contrasts with the mission of safety and security that Kent Security Services claims to uphold.

Conflicts of Interest and Legal Entanglements

Undermining efforts to distance the company from the allegations, the Kent Security Services offices were offered up as collateral to have Tal Alexander released from custody in the sex trafficking criminal case. Alleged intertwining of company-related assets with the troubling legal proceedings could complicate the situation for any municipality or government agency that continues to work with the company.

State and Local Government Impacts

The State of Florida awarded Kent Security Services a three-year contract through the Department of Management Services for security guard services across multiple regions. Given Governor Ron DeSantis's and First Lady Casey DeSantis’s strong stance against human trafficking, it would not be surprising if the State looks more closely at its relationship with the company in light of the recent charges.

According to another report by the Herald, the State of Florida awarded Kent Security Services roughly $6 million in contracts over the past 5 years for providing security at government buildings.

In addition, according to that report, Kent Security Services also signed a 2020 contract with the city of Miami that was estimated to be worth something in the neighborhood of $3.4 million per year. That contract also includes security services for the Miami-Dade County school district. Neither the city nor the school district have indicated how the charges against the Alexander brothers would affect the agreements. The city has not said how much it has paid out under that contract.

In light of the mounting allegations, it would not be surprising if the City of Miami Beach looks very cautiously at Kent Security Services.

Nationwide Implications

The allegations could have impacts beyond the Sunshine State. Kent Security Services also reportedly operates with contracts in states such as Georgia, Texas, New York, Washington and California.
